What is Arm Lift Surgery?
Due to factors such as age, genetics, excessive weight gain and loss, sagging, size and deformities may occur in the arms as a result of decreased skin elasticity and an increase or decrease in subcutaneous adipose tissue. These deformations, which cause the person to look old and unhealthy, can be corrected by arm lift surgery. With arm lift, the person can have more taut and younger looking arms.
Why do arms sag?
Processes that cause rapid weight loss such as heavy diets and stomach reduction will cause sagging in the arms as well as in the whole body. In addition, sagging in the arms may occur due to environmental and hereditary reasons such as aging and overexposure to sunlight.
This situation not only creates an aesthetically pleasing image, but also negatively affects the psychology of the person.
As in all surgeries, a detailed doctor examination should be made beforehand and all details should be explained to the patient about the surgery.
In addition, the patient should inform the physician about all the conditions such as the disease he has, the medicine he uses, etc.
In arm lift surgery, a 6-hour fasting period is required before the surgery, as in preparing for all surgeries that require general anesthesia.
In order to minimize the risk of bleeding, patients who use blood thinners etc. before the operation should take a break from these drugs under the control of a doctor.
How is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?
Arm lift surgery, which is applied in arm sagging, is usually performed under general anesthesia and sometimes under local anesthesia. It takes between 1-3 hours on average.
Excess and sagging skin and subcutaneous fat tissue are removed by making incisions extending from the inner parts of the arms to the armpits. Scars are usually seen in the area close to the armpit and on the inside of the arm, which are the least visible places for the arms when viewed from the outside.
In very severe sagging and lubrication, the patient may stay in the hospital for one day.
